MANTRAS AND MANTRA MEANINGS
We've compiled a collection of Mantras and Mantra Meanings and an introduction into how to use them.
What is a mantra? It is a word or phrase that is chanted either silently or out loud. Chanting one is like sending
a message to the universe that you wish to imbue yourself with the quality and energy of that mantra.
As an example by chanting Shanti, a mantra for peace, you attract the energy of peace to yourself.
The practice is a form of meditation,
with the Mantra being the focus of attention for the meditation.
The practice is best known as being rooted in Hindu and Buddhist faiths, and has a history of use for over 6,000 years.
You don't have to be a Buddhist or Hindu to use them though, and they have been popularized in the west since the 1960's with the
popularity of the Om mantra. They are commonly used by people interested in sound healing, meditation, yoga, and new age thought.
We've been using them for quite a few years, and love the gentle practice of chanting. If you haven't explored a mantra meditation
practice before, give it a try. You'll be amazed at how centering even just a few minutes of chanting can be.
In this section we've created a guide for how to choose a mantra and different mantra meanings. Let's get started...
