CRYSTAL SINGING BOWLS : HOW THEY ARE MADE
Singing Bowls. Crystal Singing Bowls. Buy Singing Bowls.
One of the first questions people have about quartz singing bowls is what are they made of and how are they made.
According to Renee Brodie, author of The Healing Tones of Crystal Bowls,
around twenty years ago someone discovered the computer industry throwing away crystal bowls as a byproduct.
They were being used to hold computer chips that were heated to extremely high temperatures.
The bowls were able to withstand the heat. After a certain amount of uses they were cast off and replaced with new ones.
The person mentioned in Renee's book discovered they were made of quartz crystal, realized they must have healing
potential and started selling these cast-off bowls.
I've looked for this story to be recounted elsewhere, but I haven't found any references to it, so it is unknown
if this is an accurate beginning to the use of quartz singing bowls.
What I have discovered is that there are two crystal bowls wholesale sources that provide all of the bowls on the market
today. The bowls by both of these wholsalers are manufactured in the united states.
They are made of 99.9% pure crushed quartz crystal. The crushed quartz is placed in a centrifugal spinner, heated
to 4,000 degrees and formed.
During the manufacturing process they are tuned to a specific musical note. Each musical note
is related to one of the seven chakras.
This tuning to a musical note is how crystal bowls have become associated as chakra singing bowls
for chakra balancing.
